Congresswoman Kilpatrick Hosts “Careers in Health Care” Job Fair
Congresswoman Kilpatrick sponsors job fair to give constituents access to more than 1,400 jobs and education and training programs.
Congresswoman Kilpatrick hosted a “Careers in Health Care” Job Fair at River Rouge High School. More than 700 people attended the event to learn more about employment, educational, and training opportunities in the growing health care industry.
The Congresswoman’s goal was to bring people who need jobs and employers who need to fill open positions together. More than 20 vendors from local health organizations, colleges and universities, and training centers participated. Representatives from major health systems, including Beaumont Hospital, Botsford Hospital, the Detroit Medical Center, Henry Ford Health System, and St. John Health System, were on hand to talk to participants about the positions available in their organizations. Representatives from local colleges, universities, and training programs such as the Michigan Public Health Institute, Oakland University, the University of Phoenix, Wayne County Community College District, and Wayne State University shared information about degree, certification, and training programs.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the health care industry will generate three million new wage and salary jobs between 2006 and 2016, more than any other industry.
