Artistic Discovery Congressional Art Competition

The Artistic Discovery Art Contest provides young artists with an opportunity to showcase their work locally and to receive national recognition for their talent and creativity. More than 650,000 high school students have been involved with the nationwide competition since its inception in 1982.

First place winners in each Congressional District competition will have their winning entries displayed as part of the national exhibition in the Cannon Tunnel at the U.S. Capitol. They will also be invited to Washington, D.C. for the exhibition’s ribbon-cutting ceremony, which normally takes place in June.

Submission Guidelines:

  • Each piece must be two-dimensional
  • Artwork can be no larger than 30 x 30 inches, including the frame
  • Entries can be no more than four inches in depth
  • Submissions must be original in concept, design, and execution.
  • All artwork must be accompanied by a Student Release Form. Click here to download a copy of the form.
